not so easy to jump to different characters

The wait is finally over on August 29th 2013 a new JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game was finally released in Japan. I think this is the 5th games based on this series.

For those who do not know about this series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure  is a Japanese Manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. There are several manga, light novel and Animated films and even a new Anime television series that is currently airing in Japan. If you like to know more about this series the internet has all the information you need.

Now then lets talk about the games shall we, there where several game released  before this new one but in the year 1999 the one that stands out was on the Playstation One and the Sega Dreamcast it received a average score in Japan and the US but captured a select group of fighters that enjoyed its game play. I was a big fan of the original game and when they announced the release of a new JoJo game back in summer of 2012 i jumped for joy but i was worried unlike the old JoJo that was developed by Capcom JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle is developed by CyberConnect2 (The same people who brought you the .hack// franchise and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series).

I did enjoy alot of there games but like Naruto on the PS3 it became more of a Action/Adventure game than a fighter i was also worried that it will be all flashy with action sequences now my worries was put to rest.

This is the most exiting fighting game that i played for the year now there was Injustice and Dead or Alive 5 but those game i had to learn to play while JoJo you can just jump in and have fun.

This game is a 3D fighter you fight in a 2D plane with the ability to side-step a full 360 degrees around your opponent you also have a energy bar that you can charge and use for power attacks and supers there is also a guard gauge. There are some interactive stages that will activate events when you step on a certain area there is also a Rush mode when both character with rush type attack clash in a  button mashing mini game to see who does damage.

There are over 32 Playable characters from all the different  JoJo series more DLC characters available Day 1 and more coming later this year. There are plenty of game modes Story mode, Campaign mode (Arcade mode with a RPG element) Versus (Online and Offline), Practice, Customize (edit your Character), & Gallery.

Aside from just playing tru the game and button smashing at some point you do have to sit down and figure this game out its actually a little bit more technical you have many  different combos you can master with just one character each with there own strength and weakness. I do see that more and more people will give this game a try and i hope CyberConnect2 will continue to develop fighting games like this tech content less flashy.

My final thoughts this is a good addition to my fighting library i feel energies like when Street fighter IV was released i loved Street Fighter III was worried played IV and was glad that it wasn’t exactly the same and enjoyed the classic and the new the same feeling is in this JOJO game looking forward for the fighting community to grow bigger and more DLC.
